Jacketed Gasket

Metal gaskets are available as singled jacket, double jacket or solid metal.  A jacketed gasket is comprised of a soft pliable core (filler) inside a metallic jacket.  The standard filler material is flexible graphite.  Other fillers such as PTFE or ceramic or another metal (corrugated, flat, serrated) can be used.  They are mostly suited for heat-exchangers, boilers or similar applications.
